The Engagement

With the goal of creating continuity and efficiency from a particular group of business applications, this major financial institution assigned eight related, separately managed applications under a single EVP role, and a subsequent singular product offering.

This new product offering required a long-term IT strategy, and the financial institution engaged Primitive Logic to develop the plan. The financial institution and Primitive Logic have enjoyed a twenty-plus year relationship throughout the financial institution’s IT evolution. Knowing how to work with the financial institution’s stakeholders, Primitive Logic defined a solution over a six-month period in 2005.

The Primitive Logic Approach

Primitive Logic began by rigorously defining the mission, the business drivers, and the business implications for our client’s overall technology structure. We studied the various teams and processes, identifying strengths that could be magnified under the new channel structure.

The next step was to align the future vision of the product offering with a strategically supportive structure. We re-organized the various applications and teams falling under the iCEO channel umbrella, with the goal of streamlining workflows and creating a singular, more cohesive channel offering.

With the new organizational structure mapped, the next series of tasks revolved around building in new functionalities within each application team. The defined channel and organizational structure presented new opportunities for the teams to refine their applications so as to innovate and grow the channel.

All recommendations were delivered in a comprehensive roadmap that tracked schedules, and short- and long-term deliverables. The plan was designed to deliver incremental business value, with additional deliverables presented every 30 to 45 days. All activities were designed to take advantage of in-place BEA Weblogic 9.0 and application portal server technologies.

The Outcome

The IT strategy is still in rollout process. Primitive Logic built into the overall solution is a series of metrics that will be used to measure satisfaction based on actual results, team and individual performance, user satisfaction, process performance, and EVP satisfaction.
