The Engagement
In Fall of 2003, the banking division of a major financial institution was set to develop a complete set of consumer banking products. As the product suite began to take shape, it became clear that the Bank needed to clarify its business strategy and create a supportive IT strategy. It called upon Primitive Logic to lead its IT Strategy, from concept to implementation through consensus building across its senior-level management team.
The Primitive Logic Approach
Working directly with the CIO, Primitive Logic deployed a two-person team within the institution’s bank, gathering information to develop an IT strategy and roadmap.
Utilizing the institution’s mission statement as a foundation, Primitive Logic developed an IT Strategy built around two anchor points:
The Outcome
In four months, working in the context of a Services-Oriented Architecture, Primitive Logic created a strategy that leveraged the institution’s existing and planned business technologies to synthesize data integration and create a unified customer experience.
In doing so, Primitive Logic built consensus with senior management across many business lines. Today, Primitive Logic is helping the institution implement the IT Strategy, building new tools capitalizing on the efficiencies inherent in the strategy.
The project illustrates Primitive Logic's ability to work with a client's existing technologies across multiple business lines and create untapped value through modifications, rather than complete re-builds.
